Welcome to the home of the Glenmoore Eagle Youth Association's Little League Baseball.

Home

If you live within the GEYA boundaries and your child is between the "League Ages" of 5 and 18, then you are eligible for the Spring Season.  Fall Baseball is for "League Ages" 7 to 18, but League Age changes going from Spring to Fall.

League Age

Please note that your child's "League Age" is not necessarily their age at the time they register.  Your child's "league age" for the 2017 Fall Season and 2018 Spring Season is determined by the following chart. Find the year of your child's birth in the column with their birth month.  The league age will be indicated directly to the right.  As an example, a player born in Nov 2008 will be league age 9 for the Spring 2018 season.

Spring League Divisions

GEYA Baseball is divided into six divisions to ensure that each player has the opportunity to develop their skills with players of similar ability and maturity.  Players who are League Age 9 and older are assigned to divisions by GEYA Baseball’s Player Agent based on factors that include age eligibility, evaluation scores, demonstration of the minimum skills required for that division.  Players are assigned to teams by individual managers through a draft process that follows the required player evaluation session prior to the Spring season.  League Age 8 and younger players are assigned to teams based on criteria such as the school they attend, the neighborhood they live in, etc.  A description of each division is listed below.

T-BALL:  League Age 5 to 6
Players learn and develop basic baseball fundamentals in a non-competitive environment.  The batters hit the ball from a batting tee to develop their hand-eye coordination and swing technique without fear of being hit by a pitched ball.  Playing time is divided equally between all players and players play a wide variety of positions, and a “reduced injury factor” ball is used in this league.

Field location.  Hickory Park – unless otherwise noted by the posted schedule.

Post-Season.  There are no playoffs or post-season play.

ROOKIE 7:  League Age 7
Regular Season.  Players continue to learn and develop basic baseball fundamentals in a non-competitive environment.  The batters are pitched to by their coach and will complete their batting from a batting tee if the batter fails to make contact with a pitched ball.  There are no strikeouts, but outs are recorded on defensive plays.  Emphasis is placed on developing field and throwing skills.  Playing time is divided equally between all players and players play a wide variety of positions.  Skills clinics are often offered during the season to provide additional instruction at this early age.

Field location.  West Vincent Township Park – unless otherwise noted by the posted schedule.

Post-Season. Following the regular season there is a Memorial Day All Star game with 24 players selected by the GEYA coaches from within the Rookie 7 division regardless of age.

ROOKIE 8:  League Age 8

Regular Season.  Players continue to learn and develop basic baseball fundamentals. In the Rookie 8 division a transition to kid pitch occurs. Outs are recorded on defensive plays and strikeouts. Emphasis is placed on developing field and throwing skills. Playing time is divided equally between all players and players play a wide variety of positions, and a regulation baseball is used in this league.

Field location.  Springton Manor Elementary – unless otherwise noted by the posted schedule.

Post-Season.  Following the regular season, teams have an inter-league playoff and a Memorial Day All Star game with 24 players selected by the GEYA coaches from within the Rookie 8 division regardless of age.  After the Little League season is complete, a tournament team will be selected to represent GEYA in a tournament conducted between participating leagues within Little League District 28 with tournament locations to be determined by the District.  Tournament practices will begin any time after June 1 at the discretion of the coach.

MINOR B:  League Age 9
Regular Season.  Focus on player development is balanced with increased team competitiveness in Minors B.  Batters at this level experiencing player pitching for the entire season and base runners are afforded the opportunity to steal bases until limitations that are set for each inning are reached.  While playing time will be divided equally by all players and all players will be taught to play all defensive positions, coaches at this level may assign increased playing time to some players at key positions based on the performance of that player.  This is due to reasons that include safety, maintaining a reasonable level of competitiveness, and ensuring that defensive plays can be made effectively.

Post-Season.  Following the regular season, teams have an inter-league playoff and a Memorial Day All Star game with 24 players selected by the GEYA coaches from within the Minor B division regardless of age.  After the Little League season is complete, a tournament team will be selected to represent GEYA in a tournament conducted between participating leagues within Little League District 28 with tournament locations to be determined by the District.  Tournament practices will begin any time after June 1 at the discretion of the coach.

MINOR A:  League Age 10 and 11
Regular Season.  While all Little League programs focus on player development, Minor A is a competitive division with only few rules in place that limit play.  Steals on the bases are unlimited, but steals at home are limited to two successful steals per inning.  Stolen bases are now allowed on overthrows to the pitcher.  Regular season game performance is leveraged for seeding the teams in the post-season playoffs.

INTERMEDIATE 50/70:  League Age 11* and 12
* players under 12 must receive a qualifying score at evaluations to be eligible
Regular Season.  In order to ease the transition from a 46 foot pitching distance and 60 foot base-paths to a full-size field, Little League International has introduced the 50/70 Intermediate division with a 50 foot pitching distance and 70 foot base paths.  The 50/70 division is a competitive division.  Not only has the field expanded, but base runners are permitted to lead-off and steal at any time, which requires pitchers to hold runners to bases.  Batters also have the ability to run on a dropped third strike.  Regular season game performance is leveraged for seeding the teams in the post-season playoffs.  While all players will be taught to play all defensive positions, coaches at this level may assign increased playing time to some players at key positions based on the performance of that player.  This is due to reasons that include safety, maintaining a reasonable level of competitiveness, and ensuring that defensive plays can be made effectively.
